Why are you receiving this email?

We are contacting you because you supported last Spring’s effort to urge City Council to preserve parking on Broadway—Thank you so much!!

As you saw, 5 of 9 City Councillors opted to ignore our petition. The Council's disregard of resident voices and local needs is a recurring pattern in our City Government—not just for parking, but also on issues ranging from streets, access, trees and open spaces to zoning and neighborhood conservation.

City Government is FAILING to maintain the livability and environment of the local communities that make Cambridge!!!

WHAT actions you can take TODAY to help fix City Hall?

IF YOU AGREE that we need a NEW direction in City Hall,

here are 3 ACTIONS you can take TODAY:

  • Sign up for updates from “Cambridge Civic Action for Neighborhoods” (“CambridgeCAN”):

  • Sign the new PARC2026 Petition (“Parking & Access for Residents of Cambridge in 2026”), urging City Council to preserve parking for ALL Cambridge residents:

  • Make sure you are registered to vote in this November’s City Elections:

INTRODUCING CambridgeCAN!

(Cambridge Civic Action for Neighborhoods”)

The “Broadway Parking Coalition Group” is re-branding as “CambridgeCAN” (https://cambridge-can.org), and broadening our mission to advocate for City Government to HEAR the voices of local residents!

WE’RE NOT JUST ADVOCATING FOR PARKING!!!

WE’RE ADVOCATING FOR INCLUSION, LIVABILITY & ACCESS FOR ALL!

The City’s prioritization of new bike lanes over parking and access is just one symptom of the larger problem in City Hall, a problem that impacts EVERY RESIDENT.

City Hall has stacked the deck AGAINST THE VOICES of local residents and IN FAVOR OF SINGLE-ISSUE ADVOCATES (many from outside Cambridge, supported and amplified by well-funded lobby groups and organizations).

We’ve seen this repeated on major issues besides use of our streets, including:

  • zoning

  • green spaces

  • neighborhood conservation

  • etc.

Our government has a responsibility to recognize, support and respect the neighborhoods that make up our city. But instead, it is out of touch with neighborhoods and residents. As a result, it is failing to maintain the livability and environment of local communities around Cambridge.

We NEED A NEW DIRECTION in City Hall!  It's time for the City to pay attention to the impacts of "top-down" policies and citywide plans on the residents who must live with them. We need the City to START LISTENING TO RESIDENTS before making decisions.
